No trip to Hamburg is complete without a visit to the city’s old warehouse district, Speicherstadt, and the popular harbor promenade, the Landungsbrücken. The best and most popular way to explore the city is by boat or ferry so you can truly admire the stunning architecture and the city’s waterways.
The impressive City Hall and the popular St. Michaelis church will awe any visitor, and music fans should look for the Indra and the Star Club, where the Beatles played between 1960 and 1962. For a different look at Hamburg, moonlit strolls on the Reeperbahn will bring visitors through the largest red light district in Europe. Hamburg is famous for its local dishes, Birnen, Bohnen and Speck, Aalsuppe and open-faced sandwiches with cold-smoked or pickled fish. Hamburg is Germany's second city, and the port covers apparently ten percent of the city footprint, so maritime topics are very much a part of this city. The people are very friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised, that they say good morning to you in lifts, and if they sit next to you on a park bench! The city is very easy to get around, as the metro works so well, and the railways station has connections to so many places! In spite of being such a busy city, it doesn't feel overcrowded or stressful at all, and has lots of open spaces. I would love to go back!

If you are coming to Hamburg from another German city by train it is closer from Koeln. Otherwise it's better to arrive by plane.
Hamburg is a city for people who have interest in harbours & ships.
There were more local than foreign visitors.
If you would like to visit the museums as well - it's better to have 2 full or 3 days.

We were there mid-April and the cherry blossoms and other flowers around the hotel and the Alster were in full bloom and absolutely gorgeous :). When we were there, the weather was perfect, but it can be a bit cold and windy, but wear proper clothing and all is good :)

I have often visited Germany as our daughter lived in Heidelberg for 10 years. However, this was my first trip to Hamburg and I would like to return. My son and I came to visit Miniatur Wunderland which was absolutely fantastic. Travelling round Hamburg was very cheap and easy due to excellent public transport. There were plenty of places to eat and we found prices to be generally very reasonable. Hamburg couldn't help the cold and wet weather we experienced so a return in the summer would be sensible!

We arrived to our hotel site in the rain.
We arrived to our hotel site in the rain. There is no drive up in front of the building, no parking close to the building so you can check in. You have to go to the 8th floor to check in and rooms are on 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. They put us in a room with a SMALL bed (full or 3/4 size), there were exactly 2 towels. There was one glass. It was a tiny room. I personally would not recommend this hotel to my friends or others. The breakfast service was good.

The Miniature Wonderland is a must go!
The Miniature Wonderland is a must go! I also recommend a visit to the Philharmonic building. Getting into a 100m long old military submarine is something that I never dreamed about. Super interesting!
The city is full of high designed buildings and nice places to go.
The room delivered all that were expected, well furnished, good bed, clean and all needed armenities available. Breakfast very well, something for anyone and a good variety, nice breakfast restaurant. Location suited us perfect and were chosen exactly for the purpose, very close to the Cruise Ship terminal in Hamburg. We did not look for scenic views from the hotel, such does not exist, but a nice, clean and easy access, arriving in the evening and departing with a cruise ship in the morning.
This seems to be a family run business therefore the people working there care about the level of service they provide. Everyone was super friendly. The rooms are decently sized and they were renovated not too long ago. Best shower water pressure I had in a very long time. The breakfast was small but very good and whenever we needed something they were very fast in replenish things. Considering that hotels in Hamburg are pricey this is a good option and the prices are very reasonable.
This hotel was a great find. Ideally located across the road from the train station and for getting around Hamburg. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helped us out when we needed to find a covid test centre when one of our antigen tests that we’d brought from the UK failed to upload. The staff member was exceptionally helpful and saved the day! We’ll be returning to Hamburg fairly soon and will definitely use this hotel again.
had a great stay, breakfast was super and the staff were very friendly plus having a bus stop outside the hotel was very handy, all you needed was to take the number 13 bus to the local train station which took only 5 minutes, then to take the S3 train into Hamburg centre which took about 20 minutes, we left the car in the hotel car park the hole stay and only payed €2 for parking, The local services made our stay alot easier that way
The Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg is a great choice. Wonderful location in front of the lake but also walking distance from the central train station. Rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was amazing. What made the difference was the young staff: high customer orientation and always willing to help and find solutions to our requests. We strongly recommend this hotel for anyone who would like to have a memorable experience in Hamburg.
Located out of the city centre in a quiet but affluent neighbourhood made the stay really peaceful. The breakfast was varied and tasty with a great selection of German and continental European dishes. The furnishings where really nice and thematic for the manor house.
The hotel is actually right in front of a bus stop that takes 15 minutes to reach the centre of Hamburg. It's much more convenient than walking from the S-Bahn.
This is a great beautiful apartment right in the historical city centre of Hamburg - despite proximity to restaurants and tourist areas, it is very quiet though, as large windows face a quiet inner yard. The kitchen is large enough and the nearest supermarket is 10-15 min away. There are multiple cafes and bakeries around, and the Elbphilarmonie is just 10 min walk!
The room was light and airy with a wood floor. Bed was comfortable and although the bathroom was small, the shower was hot and powerful. Location was great for Hamburg Messe and the centre could be reached 1 stop on the metro. I would consider this hotel again if I was visiting the Messe.
In a good location with walking distance to main sites in Hamburg. Friendly staff and bonus Privat parking ( paid 15 euros a day) considering location that was good. Nice room and clean. Compare to other hotels the price was worth it. Especially compared to the cheaper hotels near by.
I choose this hotel for a one night only trip to hamburg and was not disappointed. Free parking and free breakfast plus very close to highway and metro are good value even if price for one night is not cheap, but hamburg is not cheap anyway
Lovely hotel, friendly staff and ideal location in the centre of Hamburg. The room was very quiet and the curtains meant it would be very dark (if you wanted) for an ideal night’s sleep. Kids having their own bunk beds a real bonus.
Very clean and organised hotel. Quirky design and accommodating staff. A street away from Reeperbahn you're close to the action but not in the middle of it.
Cheap price in June, perfect choice for a short Hamburg trip
The property is well located, close to the main station. Be aware at night it might not be the safest place in Hamburg. The atmosphere in the hotel is super nice and the staff really friendly!
This is a very nice hotel in Hamburg. I love the location, an easy walk from the train station. Also, the staff were very helpful and professional. Excellent breakfast, too!
everything 5 stars clean top jos rooms. Friendly employees and even friendlier manager. whenever I come to Hamburg this will be the hotel where I will be sure
