Buntspecht (German for Great spotted woodpecker), founded in 2016, made a name for themselves with performances beyond their hometown of Vienna. They made their first recordings themselves in an improvised studio in a garden shed and released them on the Phat Penguin Records label. With their debut album, Großteils Kleinigkeiten, they attracted a lot of attention in 2018 and this was followed by performances in some cities in Germany, among others.
