Melissa Laveaux biography

Mélissa Laveaux (born January 1985 in Montreal, Quebec) is an Ottawa musician of Haitian descent signed to NoFormat records (others on the roster include Gonzales and Kouyate-Neerman). She is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist who plays music described as a mix of roots, folk, and blues using her signature percussive finger-style guitar and soul-inspired vocal stylings. In 2006, Laveaux released a first full-length album of her own songs. It was co-produced with percussionist Rob Reid (on tabla and cajon) and Lisa Patterson of Imaginit Music Studios. The most recent version of that self-produced release, "Camphor and Copper" also features tracks by Majiker (Camille). The album includes covers by Laveaux's influences - Elliott Smith and Eartha Kitt. Mélissa is currently accompanied on tour by Mano Razajanato (standup bass) and Sebastien Lete (drums and percussions)

  • What's interesting in London?

For those who have never been to London, the capital of Britain is associated with fog, Big Ben, and of course guards in bear caps. Yes, it is in London, as well as Kensington’s Victorian charm, the ever-singing Picadilly and Carnaby, Sherlock Holmes’s apartment and the oldest subway in the world.
