Sons of Kemet biography

Sons of Kemet was a British jazz group formed in 2011 by Shabaka Hutchings, Oren Marshall, Seb Rochford, and Tom Skinner. Theon Cross replaced Marshall on tuba after the first album, and Eddie Hick replaced Rochford on drums after the third. The band disbanded in 2022. The group used saxophone and clarinet (Hutchings), tuba (Cross), and two drummers (Skinner & Rochford or Hick) to make their music and played a mixture of jazz, rock, Caribbean folk, and African music. The band released four albums during its lifetime and won Best Jazz Act at the 2013 MOBO Awards. The band disbanded in 2022 following their live shows that year.

  • What's interesting in Manchester?

Manchester has become one of the largest cities in Britain over the past hundred years. Although Manchester is a city with a very rich history, the main focus of its development has always been industry. The center is almost entirely furnished with warehouses and factory buildings, entangled with a network of canals and old railway bridges. It is quite natural that no one gave such kindness to the reduction of production: in the former shops now open fashionable bars, in factory warehouses - designer shops, and under the old bridges "settled" nightclubs. It was for the active nightlife of the city and got its middle name - Madchester.
