Eilleen Regina "Shania" Twain (née Edwards) (born August 28, 1965 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and actress. She has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time and the best-selling female artist in country music history.[2][3][4] Her success garnered her several titles including the "Queen of Country Pop".[5][6] Billboard named her as the leader of the '90s country-pop crossover stars.[7] She released her self titled debut album Shania Twain in 1993. Her third album Come On Over is the best-selling album of all time by a female musician, Second overall by any musician of the SoundScan era and the best-selling album in the history of country music. Shania Twain (Eilleen Regina Edwards) was born August 28, 1965 to Sharon and Clarence Edwards. She grew up as Eilleen Twain in Timmins, Ontario, after her parents separated when she was two and her mother remarried to Jerry Twain, a full-blooded member of the Ojibwa First Nation. She is a Canadian singer and songwriter who has been very successful in the country and pop music genres, setting several sales records for female artists and for country artists. Additionally, she is the only female artist to have three albums certified Diamond by the RIAA. She is also the recipient of five Grammy awards.
