WARHAUS biography

Warhaus is the solo project and alter ego of Belgian musician, songwriter, and singer Maarten Devoldere, born in 1988 and based in Ghent. He is also known as one of the lead vocalists of the band Balthazar. Following the release of Balthazar's 2015 album "Thin Walls", the band members took a hiatus to explore individual creative ventures. Warhaus emerged as Devoldere's contribution during this period, beginning in 2016. The music of Warhaus is characterised by a moody and atmospheric style, drawing comparisons to artists such as Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits, and infused with the romantic intensity reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg. As of 2022, Devoldere has released three albums under the Warhaus name: "We Fucked a Flame into Being" (2016), "Warhaus" (2017), and "Ha Ha Heartbreak" (2022).
