En Vogue is an American vocal girl group formed in Oakland, California, in 1989. The original lineup included singers Terry Ellis, Dawn Robinson, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones. Their debut album, "Born to Sing" (1990), featured the single "Hold On," which reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their second album, "Funky Divas" (1992), achieved top 10 status in both the US and UK and included the hit singles "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)," "Giving Him Something He Can Feel," "Free Your Mind," and "Riddle," with "My Lovin'" reaching number two on the US chart. En Vogue has sold approximately 20 million records worldwide. They have received seven MTV Video Music Awards, three Soul Train Awards, two American Music Awards, and seven Grammy nominations. They are the only female group to have won the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for Entertainer of the Year. In December 1999, Billboard ranked them as the 19th most successful recording artist of the 1990s and the second most successful female group of that decade. In 2015, Billboard named them the ninth most successful girl group of all time. Two of their singles, "Don't Let Go (Love)" and "Hold On," are listed among Billboard’s most successful girl group songs, ranking 12th and 23rd respectively. Billboard also ranks En Vogue as the third most successful female R\&B group of the past 25 years, after TLC and Destiny’s Child, and the seventh most successful group overall.
