Orelsan is the stage name of Aurélien Cotentin (born August 1, 1982), a French hip hop and rap artist. His music is often described as conscious rap. He started getting famous by posting videos on his Myspace. The song “St valentin” is one of the songs that made him known then followed by other bangers like “Changement”(=change) in 2008. His first album "Perdu d'avance" (=lost in advance) was published in 2009 but at the same he had a controversial follow-up to his song "Sale pute" (=dirty whore). Orelsan starts music by composing bad productions with the french beatmaker Skread but then started writing lyrics due to his admiration of his rapper friend Gringe. He has a group with Gringe (real name: Guillaume Tranchant) called Casseurs Flowters since the early 2000s, however they only made one album in 2013 and have not been active since 2016. However, they made their return on the album “Civilisation” in 2021 with the music “Casseurs Flowters Infinity” and even produced a film at the end of 2015 for which they also composed the soundtrack.
