Tokio Hotel is a German pop rock band founded in Magdeburg, Germany in 2001 by singer Bill Kaulitz, guitarist Tom Kaulitz, bassist Georg Listing and drummer Gustav Schäfer. The four met in 2001 after a live show in a Magdeburg club, where Listing and Schäfer, who knew each other from music school, watched from the audience while Bill and Tom Kaulitz played on the stage. In 2009, Tokio Hotel released their 4th (3rd in German, and 2nd in English) studio album "Humanoid" in Europe And the United States, with translations in German and English. After a short break from touring during 2012-2013, the band have released 3 more albums, all in English: 2014's "Kings of Suburbia", 2017's "Dream Machine", and most recently, 2022's "2001" .
