Bixiga 70 biography

Bixiga 70 is a Brazilian ten-piece horn-driven instrumental group from São Paulo that is one of the most influential exponents of contemporary Afro-Brazilian sounds. The band’s self-titled first LP album was released in Brazil in late 2011 and appeared in many “Best of the Year” lists, like brazilian Rolling Stones’ and MTV’s. Considered the spearhead of growing brazilian afro scene, the band shared the stage with major names like Tony Allen, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 and Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra.

    Manchester has become one of the largest cities in Britain over the past hundred years. Although Manchester is a city with a very rich history, the main focus of its development has always been industry. The center is almost entirely furnished with warehouses and factory buildings, entangled with a network of canals and old railway bridges.
