The Raveonettes biography

The Raveonettes is an indie rock, shoegaze, and noise pop duo formed in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2001. The group consists of Sune Rose Wagner, who plays guitar, instruments, and provides vocals, and Sharin Foo, who plays guitar and also sings. Wagner was previously a member of Psyched Up Janis. Their music features close two-part vocal harmonies influenced by The Everly Brothers, combined with hard-edged electric guitar and layers of noise. On April 4, 2011, The Raveonettes released "Raven in the Grave," their fifth studio album, through Vice Records. According to the band's website, Sune Rose Wagner noted that this album differed from their previous work by omitting their signature surf drumbeat and featuring a darker tone without "real sunshine." Sharin Foo described the album's mood as "ethereal defiance," characterizing it as dark but not bleak, reflecting a determined mindset akin to crisis-driven focus, and suitable as a winter soundtrack released in spring.
